Submission + - ATI Fails To Accelerate GDI In Win7, Fix Upcoming (tomshardware.com)

crazipper writes: ATI's Radeon HD 5000-series graphics cards are dominating the gaming benchmarks. However, after running into a handful of issues with the cards on the Windows 7 desktop, Tom's Hardware dug deeper, discovering that the company's drivers weren't accelerating GDI. After the site's first exploration into the issues went online, ATI confirmed the unoptimized workload area. Part 2 was just posted with results from a custom benchmark comparing the 5000-series to a number of other graphics engines (including the venerable Voodoo4). The good news is that a hotfixed driver seems to improve performance and will be incorporated into a future Catalyst release.
